FAQ

1. How long will I have to wait to receive my jewelry?

Currently there is a 1 - 2 week lead time between the time orders are placed and the time they are shipped. Such is the nature of buying "made to order" -- it's good to be busy and in demand, but I'm a one woman show. Thanks for your patience!

2. Copper/Brass/Bronze jewelry? Won’t that turn my skin green?

Given the skyrocketing prices of sterling silver and gold, I turned to brass, copper and bronze to defray costs and keep my prices reasonable, and I’m so glad I did. I love the rustic look of oxidized brushed copper and brass.

Any earrings made with brass or copper have sterling silver or 14k gold filled ear wires, so green ears are not an issue (bronze earrings come with bronze ear wires unless otherwise noted in the description). I wear my copper necklaces myself and have never had a problem with my skin turning green. Bracelets are another story (something about the constant contact and lack of air circulating between your skin and the bracelet) so I do not use copper for bracelets or rings.

Copper and brass necklaces and earrings have been treated with Renaissance Wax Polish, which was developed by the British Museum in the early 1950s for fine art conservation. Renaissance Wax is a blend of highly refined micro-crystalline fossil-origin waxes. It will retard the oxidation process on your brass/copper jewelry, but you can also take further precautions by storing your jewelry in the plastic baggie it arrives in when you are not wearing it.

Bronze wire items have not been treated and will patina (darken) over time. I like this effect and think it gives the jewelry a vintage look, however, again, storing it in its plastic baggie will slow the process.

If your copper, brass or bronze item darkens/patinas more than you would like, simply rub it gently with 0000 steel wool (available in your local hardware store).

3. How should I care for my jewelry?

I love the look of oxidized brushed metals. It really enhances the depth and texture of my wire work. To keep your jewelry from oxidizing (darkening) further, you should keep it in the plastic baggie it arrives in when you are not wearing it. Also, it’s always a good idea to remove your jewelry before bathing.

I try to make my jewelry as sturdy as possible, but wire is bendable. Take care not to drop or bend your item. It is not recommended that you sleep in your jewelry.
